Highlights

The Zora Neale Hurston Festival of the Arts and Humanities held in late January has grown into a national attraction for admirers of the late writer and anthropologist. The festival, based in Eatonville where Hurston grew up, has spread to venues throughout Central Florida with a week of lectures, entertainment and other activities celebrating the cultural contributions of African-Americans.
